Oliver Glasner tells Crystal Palace he's leaving club as Man Utd put on red alert
Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner has confirmed he will be leaving the club in the summer with Manchester United alerted to his availability
Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner has confirmed he is leaving the club in the summer amid links with a move to Manchester United.
In a press conference on Friday, he said: “I told Steve (Parish) I’m looking for a new challenge. It’s my feeling after everything.
"I told him in October it’s nothing to do with the transfer window. I hate if something is written that is not true it’s tough for me to respond. We have a great relationship and always talking what’s best for Palace."
He added: "I haven’t spoken to any other club. I told the players, promised them, I will give my best to get the points record. We will do everything to bring another trophy back to Selhurst Park.
"We will do our best. For the players alone it’s tough but together it’s possible. I will do everything to bring another trophy to Selhurst and play the best Premier League season ever.”
Elsewhere in the press conference, Glanser revealed that Marc Guehi will not be in Palace's squad to face Sunderland AFC on Saturday, and that a move for the centre-back was in its "final stages."
The 25-year-old is into the last six months of his contract with the Eagles, who are seemingly looking to cash in instead of allowing him to leave for free this summer.
While Glasner failed to explain which club Guehi is set to join, a move to Manchester City would come as a major sting for Liverpool fans.
The Reds almost signed Guehi in the summer for £35million, only for a deal to collapse at the 11th hour and are thought to have reignited an interest this month.
However, Pep Guardiola is currently on the hunt for reinforcements to his back line, as a result of recent injuries to Josko Gvardiol and Ruben Dias.
As a result, Guehi has found himself linked with City as of recent. Glasner said: "My latest understanding is that a deal with Marc is in the final stages. I can't confirm a club, because it's still not done but it's in the final stages.
"The result is that Marc doesn't play tomorrow for us."
It comes as Glasner has been linked with taking up tenure with Manchester United this summer as a successor to Ruben Amorim.
The Portuguese head coach was sacked at the turn of the year, with Michael Carrick stepping in on an interim basis for the remainder of the season.
However, as Glasner will now leave Palace this summer, it could open the door for him to arrive as the next permanent head coach of United.
