'Super creepy noises' heard in abandoned UK hospital – explorer felt she wasn't alone
Chloe Urbex, 23, found the abandoned site 'super eerie' and shared some of the spooky images of the hospital that was left as though the patients and staff upped and left
An urban explorer has unveiled eerie snaps of a derelict hospital frozen in time, complete with intact beds, opticians equipment, and baths.
Chloe Urbex, known for her online adventures, described the forsaken locale as "super eerie". The 23-year-old adventurer has previously encountered chilling scenes in places like an abandoned mortuary, a horror museum, and neglected race tracks.
Her latest foray led her to the deserted Thornton Fever Hospital in Fife, Scotland, which also has a history of serving as an asylum.
Originally established as a district asylum in the late 1800s, the site left Chloe feeling particularly unsettled.
"It was super creepy in there, there were so many noises going on," said Chloe from England during her interview with What's The Jam.
"I honestly felt like I was not alone.
"I couldn't believe how much was left behind towards an optician equipment, it was absolutely insane."
According to local press, the building became a hospital in 1902.
It closed around 2006 and has been abandoned ever since.
Chilling images show the beds, baths and separators that have all remained at the hospital.
One picture shows beds with wood headboards and surrounding curtain poles.
Another image shows a 1999 health events poster, as well as pictures of two stair lifts.
Chloe added: "[The hospital] became a centre of excellence in children and family psychiatry in the 60s, and newer, purpose-built buildings were erected around the grounds.
"This provided more modern facilities and ended up housing a hospital.
"[This was] mostly an empty explore but some parts still had the odd thing left."
Chloe also shared the images of her find to Facebook, where the post has gathered over 1,000 likes.
One viewer said: "Great pictures and amazing to see what is left. Still sad its been left to rot. Seems a waste!"
Another added: "These nut houses give me the creeps."
A third commented: "Wow! Amazing place and amazing photos."
While one wrote: "Hopefully it will be refurbished, housing or a hotel would be great."
