Preston forward Milutin Osmajic has been handed an eight-match ban and a £15,000 fine by the Football Association for biting Liverpool defender Owen Beck who is on loan at Blackburn Rovers

Preston North End striker Milutin Osmajic has been handed an eight-match ban and a £15,000 fine by the FA for biting Blackburn Rovers defender Owen Beck last month.

Back in September, Osmajic sank his teeth into Beck, who is on-loan at Ewood Park from Liverpool this season. Whilst he was the victim in biting incident, it was Beck who was sent off during Blackburn and Preston's clash when he kicked out at Duane Holmes in the final seconds of their Championship match.

The left-back was furious officials had missed the bite from the Montenegro international. However, while Osmajic somehow escaped being sent off during the game which finished 0-0, he has since been charged by the FA.

A statement from the FA read: "Preston North End's Milutin Osmajic has been given an eight-match suspension and £15,000 fine for misconduct during their match against Blackburn Rovers in the EFL Championship on Sunday 22 September.

"The forward admitted that he committed an act of violent conduct around the 87th minute by biting an opponent. An independent Regulatory Commission imposed his sanctions following a hearing. Its written reasons will be published in due course."

The eight-match ban will see Osmajic suspended until Saturday 23rd November, when Preston welcome Derby County to Deepdale. A brief statement from the club outlining Osmajic's offences concluded: "PNE will be making no further comment until the independent Regulatory Commission's written reasons have been publishe

Following the incident back in September, a furious Beck, who is the great nephew of ex-Liverpool striker Ian Rush, took to social media to voice his anger at being bitten. After the game, an image appeared on social media of the bite mark Osmajic had left on Beck, with the caption "scruffy b***ard" appearing just above the nasty bruise.

So far this term, Osmajic has made 10 appearances in all competitions for Paul Heckingbottom's side, who sit 21st in the Championship. The 25-year-old has scored five goals, with his most recent appearance against Watford seeing his net a brace in a 3-0 win earlier this week.

However, Preston will now be without their leading striker for the foreseeable future.
