Man Utd fans think right wing problem is solved after Bruno Fernandes' Trivela assist
Bruno Fernandes might well have made up Erik ten Hag's mind regarding the right wing Man Utd conundrum after his Player of the Match performance for Portugal
Bruno Fernandes produced a delightful Trivela assist as he contributed to four of Portugal's nine goals against Luxembourg.
The Manchester United star was named Player of the Match on Monday (September 11) night for helping his nation to a 9-0 victory, making it six wins in six for them in Euro 2024 qualifying.
He got on the scoresheet late on having already bagged a hat-trick of assists - including an outside-of-the-boot cross for team-mate Goncalo Inacio to head home the opener less than 12 minutes in.
It came from the right side of the box - and United fans reckon Erik ten Hag will play him there against Brighton this coming weekend given Antony's leave of absence and Jadon Sancho's spat with the Red Devils boss.
One fan posted on social media: "Bruno right wing on Saturday." A second echoed: "Yeaaaa, surely Bruno is starting as right wing now."
"Maybe Bruno on the wing could work," commented a third, while a fourth wrote: "Ten Hag watching Bruno delivering assists from the right wing. It's not looking good for [Facundo] Pellistri."
Not everyone was happy to see Fernandes' assist, with one saying: "Just hope Ten Hag doesn't look at this and think oh Bruno at right wing."
Another pleaded: "Nooo Bruno stop doing this. Erik will see this and he'll play you on right wing ffs." And one added: "Bruno Fernandes with a couple of assists from the right wing tonight. Erik better not be watching this Portugal game."
There's a widespread belief amongst the United fanbase that Fernandes is less effective out wide than his more-preferred central position.
He has, however, picked up four goals and four assists in 11 outings on the right during his time at Old Trafford, according to transfermarkt.
