EXCLUSIVE Liverpool legend Emile Heskey has slammed Alexander Isak’s behaviour during his transfer saga before joining the Reds in a British record deadline day transfer

Liverpool legend Emile Heskey has slammed Alexander Isak’s behaviour as he forced a move from Newcastle this summer.

On the final day of the transfer window, Isak finally completed a move that he had been attempting to force for the past month. The Sweden striker had failed to join his Magpies team-mates on their pre-season tour and virtually went on strike before publicly accusing the club of mistreating him.

Isak eventually got his wish as he completed a £125million move to Anfield on the same day that Yoane Wissa moved to St James’ Park from Brentford in a £55m deal, after he too spat his dummy out in a similar strop.

While both of those deals went through, Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi saw a deadline day switch to Anfield scuppered after the Eagles pulled the plug on his £35m transfer when they failed to sign a replacement.

Unlike the two aforementioned strikers, the England defender remained the ultimate professional throughout, and even led Palace to a 3-0 win over Aston Villa the day before, scoring the second goal.

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Star Sport with Mr. Gamble, Heskey hit out at Isak and Wissa’s behaviour, suggesting that foreign players have gone about forcing a transfer in the wrong way before.

He said: “You don’t often see this from English players. Over the years, it has mainly been foreign players who have gone on strike, where the English players just get on with their football and let it all play out and get on with their job.

“There have been more foreign players to go on strike, not train, to get what they want. I don’t like it all really.

“You look at Guehi, a true professional and us English lads just get on with playing and doing our job as footballers.”

Guehi will remain a Palace player until at least January now when the Eagles may look to cash in on him. The 25-year-old’s contract at Selhurst Park expires in the summer, and he looks unlikely to sign an extension.

Meanwhile, Isak is in line to make his Reds debut against Burnley, with Wissa set to feature when Newcastle host Wolves after the international break. Neither player has played this season.

Isak's impending minutes on international duty with Sweden will be his first in three-and-a-half months, since the final day of last season.
