It has been claimed that thousands of members of the Lebanon-based terror group Hezbollah have been impacted by exploding pagers as it suffers the 'biggest security breach' ever

Hezbollah members in their 'thousands' have been injured after their pagers suddenly exploded.

The incident has been dubbed the “biggest security breach” suffered by the Lebanon-based group labelled a terrorist organisation by the UK Government in 2019, since its inception in the 1980s.

Video footage of several explosions – which are said to have killed three people – have gone viral on social media and show the moment people carrying pagers used by the group to communicated suddenly explode without warning.

Two of the videos show people casually shopping in supermarkets and outdoors fruit markets, while another shows a man bleeding heavily in a car. Around 150 members of the group have been hit by the explosions – said to have been carried out by Israel.

It has been unofficially dubbed “Operation Below the Belt” in Israel, although the Israel Defence Force has yet to officially take credit for the attack. Israel-based Torah expert, Saul Sadka commented on Twitter/X.

He wrote: “The extraordinary rumours going around Arab language T-gram groups are that dozens to hundreds of Hezbollah operatives across Lebanon had their encrypted personal pagers explode on their belts all at once in the last hour.

“This is a huge psychological blow and Hezbollah will need a new method to keep in touch with each other... not ideal for them in the middle of a war. This looks like the IDF "shaping the battlefield" ahead of something bigger.

“Total pandemonium across Lebanon. No question that this is the most impressive and effective espionage operation by ANYONE in decades. Maybe ever.”

And UK-based Jewish feminist and journalist Nicole Lampert added: “I don’t even know if it’s possible for Israel to have done this, but it would be a new phase to a strange semi war in which Hezbollah has been attacking Israel’s North and Israel has been responding.”

After the explosions, videos also emerged of chaos in the streets of Lebanon, as victims of the attacks were being found all over public areas.
