'Everybody was Gazza's ally – only three men were slightly capable of controlling him'
To say Paul Gascoigne was a character during his football career is perhaps putting it lightly but England icon Gazza was everyone's friend in the changing room
Paul Gascoigne was everybody's friend in the changing room – and only three men could control Gazza.
That's according to his good pal at Rangers Ally McCoist, who admits that he got on "very very well" with Gascoigne during their Ibrox career. And we all know the story of the ex-England man 'breaking in to' McCoist's house to make a sandwich in the middle of night.
But that's just the type of fun Gazza used to have, both on the pitch and off it. It even seems that his exploits ensured he was universally liked in the dressing room.
"I think it's safe to say that myself and Ian Durant got on very very well with him, very very well," TNT Sports pundit and co-commentator McCoist said.

"You know what he's like as well as I do. Everybody loved him. Everybody was an ally in the dressing room - he's unique in that respect.
"He got on well with everyone, whether it was the washing lady, wee Doddie the tea man, Jimmy the kit man, all the players. Everybody loved him and he loved every one."
Gascoigne was the life and soul of football in the Nineties with his antics well known.

From taking an ostrich to training to coming up with the infamous dentist's chair celebration, there was little stopping Gazza when an idea came to his mind.
But a trio of his ex-managers could put somewhat of a leash on the charismatic star.
"The three best men who were only slightly capable of keeping him under control, in no particular order, would have been Walter Smith, Terry Venables, and Sir Bobby," McCoist said.
"I saw two of them operate, I didn't see Sir Bobby operate with him, but they were the three who had more ability than most to slightly control him.
"[They did it with] A little bit of love really, to tell you the truth. I think you'll know what I mean there. Of course there were times when certainly Walter was strict, but I think those three were more than capable of putting an arm around him."
