Erling Haaland's fitness a concern as he undergoes more treatment after injury
Manchester City are facing a race against time to see if star-striker Erling Haaland will be available for their Premier League clash with Liverpool on Saturday afternoon
Erling Haaland is facing a race against time to be fit for Saturday's crunch showdown with Liverpool.
Pep Guardiola is sweating on the fitness of the Manchester City sensation ahead of the clash with Jurgen Klopp's men at the Etihad. Haaland pulled out of the Norway squad during the international break with a groin problem that is still troubling him.
The striker did not train with the rest of the City squad on Thursday. It's understood he underwent more treatment and did some lighter work on his own.
Haaland is recovering from the groin issue he picked up in the 6-0 FA Cup win over Burnley before the international break, in which he scored his sixth hat-trick of the season.
He then joined up with the Norway squad, but was sent back to Manchester after being assessed by the national team's medical staff. Haaland, who has scored 42 goals this season in all competitions, travelled to Barcelona to have the injury assessed by medics known to Guardiola.
Haaland's dad, Alf-Inge Haaland, has described his son's chances of being fit to face Liverpool as "touch and go".
Being without Haaland for such a big game would be a huge blow to Guardiola as he looks to hunt down league leaders Arsenal in the title race.
But the Spaniard will not want to risk him if it jeopardises his involvement in the upcoming Champions League quarter-final tie with Bayern Munich.
