The deaths of Epsom College head Emma Pattison, her husband George and their daughter Lettie has been ruled as a double murder-suicide after police ruled out third party involvement

The deaths of Epsom College head Emma Pattison, her husband George and their daughter Lettie, seven, are being treated as a "murder-suicide" by police, it has been reported.

Mrs Pattison, 45, was found dead on the school grounds alongside George, 39, and their daughter in the early hours of Sunday, February 5 after a shooting just hours after a distressed Mrs Pattison is said to have made a call to a family member.

By the time the relative arrived at the grounds of the school following on from the distressed call, Emma, George and Lettie were dead.

The trio had been shot dead in an "isolated incident", with police saying there was no third-party involvement in their deaths as they open up a homicide investigation into the shooting.

Both BBC News and The Sun are now reporting police believe the tragic case to be a double murder-suicide, with George killing both Emma and their daughter before killing himself with a firearm registered in George's name.

A police statement from Detective Chief Inspector Kimball Edey read: "This is an incredibly traumatic incident and we are working around the clock to investigate and understand the exact circumstances which led to this point.

"We understand the public concern and upset, and we will clarify what we can, when we can, while respecting the right to a level of privacy for the families of those who have lost their lives."

Inspector Jon Vale, Epsom and Ewell's Borough Commander, added that there is "no risk to the wider public".

Inspector Vale said: "I know this incident has caused upset and sent shockwaves through the local community.

"Although we are confident that this incident was contained to one address, and there is no risk to the wider public I fully understand the concern this can and has caused members of our communities."

The deaths have been reported to the coroner for formal identification as specialist officers support the family's next of kin.

Police further noted that the firearm found at the scene was licensed and registered to George Pattison.

The awful update comes as tributes were paid to Emma, who had began her role as head of Epsom College in September 2022, with Daily Star previously reporting the family were set for a "big change" just weeks ago.

Said change was revealed by the 45-year-old head of school on the Epsom College-based podcast, where Emma revealed she and her family were preparing to welcome a dog into the family.

Emma, speaking back in December, said on the student-ran podcast: "I've got a new job, my husband got a new job, which wasn't meant to happen, but did, and my daughter has started a new school."

Daily Star previously reported the major change for the family, while friends and colleagues also paid tribute following the "shocking" death.

It comes as one member of staff at the school claims to have called emergency services to the site of the school after they heard gunshots during the night.
