Dad fuming after paying £42 for daughter to meet Santa – but she didn't even get present
Joe Skarz, 32, and his fiance Leoni Jackson, 30, wanted to give their daughter Millie, six, a day to remember when she met Father Christmas but were disappointed when they discovered he had no gifts
A fuming dad who had hoped to have an "unforgettable" day with his young daughter when he paid for her to meet Santa but said he felt ripped off when he was told the £42 price tag didn't include a present.
Joe Skarz, 32, and his fiance Leoni Jackson, 30, travelled half an hour to The Piece Hall in Halifax, West Yorkshire last Saturday (4 Dec) so that their daughter Millie, six, could meet Father Christmas.
The disappointed dad claimed he was happy to ****** out the hefty price for the tickets to give his little girl a "day to remember forever" after Christmas was cancelled last year by the pandemic, YorkshireLive reports.
But he was left fuming when a tale-teller at the event told the parents that they wouldn't be receiving a gift from Santa on the day.
Joe, from Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, said: "We felt really ripped off by the price.
"Every time I’ve seen Santa as a kid, one of the memories is that you get a gift.
"As parents, these moments are the ones you cherish for the rest of your life. Seeing your little daughter with a present from Santa.
"To not have that opportunity was so disappointing.
"We travelled from Huddersfield to Halifax just to see it and after last year we wanted to make this year extra special, we want to keep doing more for Millie.
"It just makes it even more frustrating.
"People save up for days like this because it’s such a magical day, or it’s supposed to be.
"They ruined a bit of the magic of Christmas."
Millie had been really looking forward to the day after being told she was going to be meeting Father Christmas, but reportedly hasn't spoke of the day since.
He added: "It says it all that she hasn’t talked about it at all."
The father claims the event was a "waste of money".
Following negative feedback from parents, The Piece Hall decided to cancel the event "with immediate effect".
In a statement, they said: "We have listened to your feedback on the ‘Father Christmas comes to The Piece Hall’ event delivered by Sneaky Experience and we have regretfully decided to cancel the event with immediate effect.
"Those who have bought tickets for future bookings will be entitled to a full refund.
"We apologise that this performance has not met the expectations of some of our customers. We value your feedback and will always take it on board to help us develop improved experiences."
