Black cab 'ploughs into shoppers' outside UK train station in horror incident
It's currently unclear whether anyone's been hurt in the crash in the retail district but pics from the tragedy show a fleet of cop cars, an ambulance, incident squads and fire brigades swarming the site
A black cab has mowed down shoppers in Glasgow's city centre with emergency services rushing to the scene on Union Street.
The horror incident happened this afternoon (October 5) amid reports of the taxi hitting two pedestrians on the pavement outside Glasgow Central Station.
One horrified onlooker told Record they saw the scary moment unfold: "Just witnessed a taxi run two people over at Glasgow Central." Another witness said the rogue taxi jumped up on the kerb at a traffic signal, explaining: "The emergency services arrived on Union Street quickly and erected screens around the area and the black cab."
A witness said: "I just walked by a major incident outside Glasgow Central Station. Huge emergency services response. It looks like a taxi mounted the pavement right outside the Tesco Express."
It's currently unclear whether anyone's been hurt in the crash in the retail district. Snaps from the tragedy show a fleet of cop cars, an ambulance, incident squads, and fire brigades swarming the site, reports Glasgow Live.
The city's bustling public's been told to say away while traffic's being rerouted from the area.
Police Scotland said: "Emergency services are currently in attendance at Union Street at its junction with Gordon Street following a road crash. Gordon Street at Union Street is closed as is Renfield Street at St Vincent Street. Motorists and members of the public are asked to avoid the area."
The Scottish Ambulance Service have been approached for comment.
