England and Iceland renew their hostilities on Friday (June 7) evening - and Daily Star Sport has had a look at what happened to the Icelandic models who snuck into the England camp during Covid

England and Iceland's footballing history is overshadowed by one game - Iceland's improbable Euro 2016 masterpiece.

At times, it feels like Three Lions are still licking their wounds from that hot, sticky evening in Nice. It's almost forgotten that Gareth Southgate's side have clashed with the volcanic nation twice since then - behind closed doors as Covid-19 brought the world to a stop.

The first of those two encounters, a drab 1-0 win in Reykjavik, was overshadowed by an incident that took place after the game.

With the England squad pitched up in a hotel in Reykjavik, the Icelandic capital, Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood tried to sneak in two Icelandic models they'd meet online.

Nadia Sif Lindal Gunnarsdottir, then 20, and her cousin Lara Clausen, then 19, found themselves in a hotel room with the two England stars - breaching Icelandic Covid-19 restrictions.

They entered the hotel during the early hours of the morning and Lara said she “felt like an escort” during an Instagram stream – footage later showed Foden flashing his backside at them.

Nadia's cousin Lara has admitted putting the footage on Snapchat because she "did not realise how famous the footballers were".

The girls reportedly spent hours with the players as they shared snaps on social media with the caption “chillin with Mason Greenwood & Phil Foden”.

Miss Universe Iceland 2019 finalist Nadia started chatting to Greenwood online before the match. And after the news broke and the players were fined £1,360 by local police, the women spoke out in support of them.

After Southgate sent the lads packing, Nadia said: “I was talking to Mason for a couple of days before they came to Iceland. They did know that they had to quarantine, but we figured that since they were playing Iceland, they had been tested before and it would be OK.”

So where are the girls now?

Nadia is the more active of the pair - and the stunning model now boasts over 22,000 followers on social media, where she shares snaps from her modelling career. In 2019, she appeared in the film Echo, before she was a finalist in Miss Universe Iceland.

The blonde bombshell is also something of a globe trotter, and she's visited Italy, Cyprus and the UK in the recent months.

She's also now in a relationship with Lucien Christofis, an English basketball who plays for second divison side Akranes IA in Iceland. Nadia also added tattoos to her dainty frame - proudly showing them off in a recent, topless, post.

Lara, on the other hand, is also still active on social media. One year younger than Nadia, she's also enjoying a life of glamour, boasting 27,200 Instagram followers and 14,000 TikTok followers.

And in one clip this year she did a voiceover to the words: “These are the years that I am supposed to be naked, everywhere on the streets, on a beach somewhere.”
