Primark reveals latest closures with several stores affected – full list
Primark has confirmed that cafes in four stores will be closing over the next 12 months, with decisions guided by the size and location of each store with a full list below
Primark patrons may soon discover their local outlet is impacted by a wave of nationwide closures. The high street giant, famed for its budget-friendly apparel, footwear and accessories, boasts approximately 190 stores scattered across the UK, with additional outlets worldwide.
However, it appears that some in-store cafes nestled within Primark branches are set to permanently close their doors. Four locations have been confirmed for closure, with decisions guided by the size and location of each store.
This follows a video shared on social media depicting Primark cafe employees allegedly being "made redundant".
The footage features three workers tidying tables and serving behind the counter in a Primark cafe, accompanied by the caption: "Us because we are getting made redundant and will never see each other again. RIP Primark cafe."
Despite this, Primark has reassured that no staff members are currently affected by the closures. In an official statement, a spokesperson said: "We know how important our stores are to our customers and we're constantly reviewing them to ensure we provide the best shopping experience.", reports the Express.
They added: "As we've expanded our own product offering, we are adapting our spaces so that each store is best set up to cater to local customer preferences."
The statement concluded: "As part of this, we have been reviewing our in-store concessions and considering how we maximise and best use the space we have in our stores."
Primark has confirmed that several in-store cafes are slated for closure, with the retailer citing a 12-month timeline for this process to unfold. A spokesman explained, "Over the next 12 months customers will start to see the closure of some concessions. These decisions are being informed by the size and location of each store."
The closures will affect cafes within the following locations:
Glasgow Braehead shopping centre.
Edinburgh Princes Street.
Birmingham High Street.
Belfast Royal Avenue.
These themed pop-up cafes have delighted shoppers with their themed offerings, drawing inspiration from beloved franchises like Lilo and Stitch, Hello Kitty, The Simpsons, and Stranger Things, with menu items tailored to the current theme.
However, a spokesperson reassured, "As this will be managed over the next 12 months and beyond, no Primark colleagues are currently impacted."
While admitting that some partners may be affected, the company expressed its commitment to handling the process with care and transparency, providing support throughout.
