Mass brawl inside burger chain after food order mix-up as floors left bloodstained
A huge fight erupted at Whataburger in Texas after one table of people were allegedly told by staff that other customers had swiped their order, leading to carnage
A fight over a food order at a popular burger restaurant ended in seven being arrested. The air inside Whataburger in Texas became muddy with blood and ketchup around 3am Sunday (October 12), with grim video capturing the brawling diners.
Rebecca Noel – whose son was involved in the fracas – claimed Whataburger staff informed other customers that her son Keilin and his group had their food
Noel wrote on Facebook: “Moments later, those individuals confronted my son and his friends, and within seconds, the situation escalated far beyond a simple misunderstanding – to a violent assault.” The 40-second clip on social media showed one man in light blue jeans and a grey shirt bludgeon another man in the face, leaving them knocked across a restaurant table.
Seconds later, another man in an orange shirt was spotted raining down punches on a separate person laying on the ground.
“Calm down, calm down, calm down,” one person was heard saying mid-chaos, perhaps wisely given the supposed reason for the fight breaking out. “Please calm down.”
The pleas did not have a desired effect with the camera soon panning to three girls having at it on the restaurant floor, throwing punches and kicks at one another.
A separate bystander said: “Stop! What the f*** is wrong with y'all?”
According to San Antonio Express-News, a Whataburger employee who was off duty got the sack after he leapt into the brawl and started throwing punches himself.
San Antonio police arrested seven people after arriving at the scene: Andres Garcia Cardenas, 21; Tyrone Tolliver, 21; Miguel Torres, 57; Meili Torres, 21; Andrew Lopez, 21; Deontae Tolliver, 23; and Veronica Valdez, 53.
Underneath the video on social media Rachel Mosler Wariner, who identified herself as Keilin’s aunt, said the “most sickening part” of the hostility was that her nephew “was just trying to stop a fight between females”.
She commented: “Being a man who was raised right knows it wasn’t right for that to happen! And they jumped him for trying to help the females.
“I am disgusted and appalled at the animal-like behavior of these grown men. And the poor kid that got knocked down, hit his head on the table, and then was punched in the face when he tried to stand up is absolutely disgusting! They will see their day.”
Noel's post also showed some photos of the suspects, with pictures of Whataburger's blood-spattered floors.
Those arrested were charged with assault causing bodily injury and taken to Bexar County Jail, according to CBS Austin.
Cops said 20-year-old man and woman, plus an 18-year-old man and woman, were considered victims.
Noel wrote: "There is absolutely no excuse for what happened. This never should have escalated to this point.
"Any business that employs or is affiliated with these individuals should be held accountable and made aware of who they have representing them.
"The community deserves to know who these people are before doing business with them."
