Marcus Rashford will push to join Barcelona this summer in a deal that could see the Manchester United take a drop in wages rather than play for Ruben Amorim again

Marcus Rashford is willing to take a wage cut to seal a dream move to Barcelona this summer.

Rashford has set his heart on joining the Spanish giants - and has no intention of playing for Manchester United again. The England forward joined Aston Villa on-loan in January, and will remain with them until the end of the season.

But despite rediscovering some of his best form at Villa, it remains to be seen if the Midlands outfit want to make the deal permanent. United want around £40m for the 26-year-old.

But it's understood Rashford is holding out for a move to the Nou Camp instead. He is keen to hold talks with Barca - and would consider accepting a deal which is less than his current contract of £350,000-a-week.

Rashford regards Barca as one of the iconic clubs to play for, and also knows the Catalan outfit can guarantee him Champions League football next season.

Rashford fell out with United boss Ruben Amorim earlier this season, in the wake of him revealing he needed a fresh challenge.

The forward, meanwhile, will be assessed by United's medical staff after a hamstring injury brought a premature end to his season.

Rashford damaged his hamstring in training last week and is set to be sidelined for several weeks.

Medical teams from United and Villa are currently liaising over the extent of Rashford's injury and anticipated recovery time frame.

Rashford knows he has no future at United while Amorim is in charge, with a permanent move this summer the ideal outcome for both parties.

Rashford's representatives have indicated they will sit down with United in the coming weeks to discuss the forward's future options - and hopefully reach agreement on his next move.

The striker is keen to remain part of Thomas Tuchel's England plans ahead of next summer's World Cup.
